🇭🇺 Hungarian Tart (Lekváros Linzer Torta)

Instructions:

  1. Make the dough:
In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and lemon zest.
Add butter and rub with your fingers (or use a pastry cutter) until crumbly.
Mix in egg yolks and vanilla. Form into a soft dough.
  2. Chill:
Divide the dough into 2 parts (one slightly larger than the other).
Wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare the tart:
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Roll out the larger dough and press it into a greased tart pan or baking dish.
    Spread jam evenly on top.
  4. Make lattice:
Roll out the smaller piece of dough and cut into strips.
Lay strips over the jam in a crisscross pattern.
  5. Bake:
Bake for about 30–35 minutes, until golden.
  6. Serve:
Let it cool, then dust with powdered sugar before slicing.

This tart is buttery, crumbly, and filled with jam, a true Hungarian classic often enjoyed with coffee or tea. 🍰☕

Ashley, do you want me to also share the Hungarian bar (cookie-style) version of this tart (cut into squares instead of a round pie)?
