1. Cook the Rice:
- Cook rice according to package instructions. Fluff and set aside.
2. Sauté the Base:
- In a large skillet, heat oil and sauté onion until soft.
- Add sliced sausage and cook until lightly browned.
- Stir in paprika, a pinch of salt, and black pepper.
3. Prepare the Casserole Dish:
- Grease a baking dish.
- Layer like this:
- A layer of green pepper rings
- A layer of cooked rice
- A layer of sausage-onion mixture
- Repeat until ingredients are used up, ending with peppers on top
4. Top with Sour Cream:
- Mix sour cream with egg (optional, for richness and structure) and spread over the top.
- Optional: Arrange a few tomato slices for color.
5. Bake:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake another 10–15 minutes to lightly brown the top.
