Hungarian Stuffed Peppers Recipe

🌶️ Hungarian Stuffed Peppers (Töltött Paprika)

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 8 Hungarian yellow peppers (or sweet bell peppers)
  • 500 g (1 lb) ground pork (or pork + beef mix)
  • 100 g (½ cup) rice, rinsed and partially cooked
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tsp marjoram (optional, traditional in some regions)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil or lard
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 L (4 cups) tomato juice or puréed tomatoes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp sugar (to balance acidity)
  • Salt, to taste
