👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Cook the Potatoes:

  • Boil whole, unpeeled potatoes in salted water until tender (but not mushy), about 20–25 minutes.
  • Let cool slightly, then peel and slice into rounds.

2. Prep the Casserole Layers:

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Grease a baking dish with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs (optional).

3. Layering:

In a greased baking dish, layer in this order:

  1. A layer of sliced potatoes
  2. A layer of sliced eggs
  3. A layer of sausage slices
  4. Dollops of sour cream, then a light sprinkle of salt, pepper, and paprika

Repeat until ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of potatoes and a generous topping of sour cream.


4. Bake:

  • Dot the top with a few pieces of butter.
  • Optional: Sprinkle with grated cheese or breadcrumbs for a golden crust.
  • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until top is bubbly and lightly browned.

🍽️ To Serve:

  • Let it rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
  • Traditionally served with pickled vegetables or a light cucumber salad (uborkasaláta).
