Sausage Balls🇭🇺

🔥 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix the dough:
In a large bowl, combine sausage, cheese, flour, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and caraway if using.
Stir in melted butter and sour cream. Mix well with hands or a sturdy spoon until fully combined.
  3. Form the balls:
Roll mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch balls. Place on baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  4. Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp should reach at least 160°F / 70°C).
  5. Cool slightly & serve:
Best served warm with a dipping sauce (suggestions below).

🍅 Suggested Dips:

  • Paprika-sour cream dip: Mix sour cream + sweet paprika + garlic + lemon juice
  • Spicy mustard dip
  • Ajvar (Balkan roasted red pepper spread)

🧀 Tips:

  • You can use a mix of cheddar and smoked cheese for deeper flavor.
  • Make ahead and freeze unbaked — just thaw slightly and bake when ready.
  • Use cooked crumbled Hungarian sausage (kolbász) if you want real traditional flavor and less grease.
