🥣 Instructions:
- Prepare the base:
In a bowl, mash the cottage cheese (or Liptauer) with a fork until creamy, or use a food processor for a smoother texture. - Add flavor:
Mix in the softened butter, sour cream, paprika, mustard, and grated onion. Stir until everything is well combined. - Season:
Add salt, pepper, and crushed caraway seeds to taste. Adjust spices to your liking. - Chill:
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together. - Serve:
Garnish with chopped chives or parsley. Serve with rye bread, crusty baguette slices, or fresh vegetables.
📝 Notes:
- Traditional Körözött is made with a cheese called Liptauer, which is soft and tangy. If you can’t find it, a mix of cottage cheese and cream cheese or quark works well.
- For a smoky touch, you can add a dash of smoked paprika.
- Keeps well in the fridge for up to 3–4 days.
